What is counselling?

It is not always possible to speak to family or friends about thoughts or feelings that worry or frighten you. Counselling is an opportunity to talk to a trained professional about difficulties in a safe and confidential setting about your concerns.

What type of counselling do you offer?

The psychodynamic model of counselling uses the relationship between the client and counsellor to unfold, allowing thoughts and feelings to be thought about as they arise. This includes linking past experiences with your current situation. I also offer short term CBT and Solutions Focused Counselling.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) helps the client to alter distortions of thought or perceptions which may be causing or prolonging psychological stress.

What are your qualifications?

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor / therapist. A professionally accredited member of BACP and registered with UKRCP.
I trained and qualified with WPF London, who provide training based on psychoanalytic principals and methods. It is a long and rigorous training, including personal therapy prior to and throughout the duration of the course. I hold a further Advanced Diploma in counselling and training in CBT.

What is BACP?

BACP is the UK's national registering body for counsellors and its counsellors adhere to a strict ethical framework. UKRCP is the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
